…and I’ve come to realize why. Training is hell! Literally! Marathon training is not for the faint of heart, it’s not for people that shy away from pain management, it’s not quick and easy, and it’s not something you can do half-way. Marathon training mandates commitment, discipline, strength and determination. Keeping up with a run and workout schedule daily, that is training. Waking up before the sun to run until your body is in physical pain, that is training. Feeling as if you’re rewarded by sitting in an tub filled ice and later a hot shower, that is training. Repeating this cycle for months leading up to race day, that is training. It’s the endurance that the runner experiences physically, mentally, and emotionally that will take them to the finish line.
